Workshop Descriptions:
1. Jai Hanuman! Kecak and Prana Flow Vinyasa Yoga in the Monkey Forest Temple
Explore the embodiment of the monkey spirit Hanuman within yoga and Kecak, the trance dance form that reenacts Hanuman's army with creativity and power. These three consecutive afternoon sessions take you from your embodied play to the actual Monkey Temple Forest where you will be introduced to the Monkey families and experience an accessible introduction to the communal form of Kecak that involves the "monkey chant and movement" that tells the story of the Ramayana which awakens the energy within. Shiva will offer the primal vinyasa forms that are part of Prana Flow based upon monkey movements from the play of handstands to the actual Hanuman Kriyas as ways to embody the bhakti spirit, power and playfulness of Hanuman. The final session will include a public puja at the Monkey Forest Temple organized by Kecek of Bali Spirit Festival whose family has cared for the 800 year old temple that has become a protected sanctuary for over 400 monkey families. This workshop will support the efforts of the Monkey Forest Temple Preservation.
