Workshop Description:

Music: Kirtan/Chant Workshop

Swim into the ocean of devotion by singing the ancient divine names of God together with our human community. The practice of kirtan is contemplative, insightful, compassionate, loving, and rejuvenating. At the same time it is communing with others, affirming uplifting human connections and joyously celebrating the beloved creation alive in us every moment. We will speak about mantra, philosophy, ancient sacred stories, and the history of kirtan but mostly we will sing! We’ll cover kirtan instruments, call & response singing, other structures and some music theory. Through singing kirtan we are making a powerful connection to every tradition and every culture's devotion to the Universal Spirit. In affirming world peace and understanding we include devotional music from several mystical traditions.
