Presenter Bio:

For over 30 years Deborah and David as pioneers in Yoga Adventure, passionate yogis, wilderness guides and surfers, have lived their vision of traveling to remote corners of the world leading Yoga Adventure, retreats, workshops and Yoga Alliance registered Teacher Trainings.

Playfully weaving a wealth of wisdom and experience into her classes, Deborah’s teaching reflects time in nature with shamanic peoples and a heartfelt enthusiasm for integrating the essence of ancient traditions, subtle and physical anatomy and contemporary yoga therapy while skillfully inspiring beginners and experienced yogis alike.

She is known for her ability to make yoga accessible to everyone.

They first traveled to Bali, Peru and India 25 years ago. A small village next to Ubud in Bali and a village in the Andes of Peru have been their second homes.

Yoga for the Village People, an integral part of their travel invites teachers and students to join her in seva (service) touching the lives of many in these small villages.

Their oceanfront retreat on the Big Island of Hawaii is built sustainably and off the grid by David, inspired by the architecture of Bali and Peru. A magical place for trainings and retreats set in tropical paradise.

Deborah, together with adventure photographer David and filmmaker daughter Alison Teal have been featured in numerous photos and publications including Yoga Journal, Women in Sports and Fitness, Outside Magazine, Fit Yoga Magazine, Athleta, Prana, and Patagonia catalogs and ESPN Television. Alison has award winning films documenting their travels and yogic connections. Their most recent film "Incantations" an adventure with shamans in a remote village in the high Andes of Peru is screening in film festivals this year.

Deborah’s first teacher, in1971 was the mother of yoga in the western world, Indra Devi. She has lived in Mysore India, and studied Ashtanga Yoga with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, has an extensive background in the teachings of B.K.S.
